The King’s Arms is the perfect setting for meetings, small conferences, private dinners, and get-togethers. It has three beautiful event spaces.
Situated on the first floor, The Casterbridge Room is our main event space. This versatile and spacious room features the hotel’s iconic bow-window, elegant painted panels, and ambient lighting. The room is named in honour of the novelist Thomas Hardy, who wrote much of The Mayor of Casterbridge here.
With room for 70 guests, the space can be easily adapted with sofas and easy chairs for relaxed, small gatherings, or arranged in more formal boardroom layouts.
With its elegant painted panels, bespoke lighting, leather sofas, and bow-window, the room is still recognisable as the one Hardy described in his novel.
The space which can host up to 70 guests has been designed to be adaptable for every occasion and can be set up with sofas and easy chairs, or in more traditional presentation or meeting formats.
The Old Smoking Room is stylish and comfortable. Positioned on the ground floor it is a fantastic venue for small meetings, and social gatherings. The space combines a casual lounge area with a large table that seats 12 guests. It makes an excellent breakout space when booked in conjunction with The Casterbridge Room.
Old Smoking Room
The cosy Private Dining Room is tucked away between the restaurant and The Old Smoking Room. Featuring a large round table and stripped-back walls, this atmospheric room marks the oldest part of the hotel. Seating eight guests, it provides a wonderful and intimate setting for dinner parties, small meetings, or quiet workspace.
